This short safari is heading out to Ndutu to explore the great wildebeest migration during the Ndutu Calving season. This trip takes you to one of the highlights of the greatest animal movement on earth, where the migration gathers in the mineral-rich Ndutu Plains for the Ndutu Calving, with over 1,000 newborn wildebeest born daily and predators actively on the hunt.

Witnessing the Ndutu Calving migration offers a unique and dramatic wildlife experience, making this trip truly unforgettable. This is a seasonal safari available from late December to early March, perfectly timed to capture the peak of the Ndutu Calving season.

Day 01 :

Pick up from the airport

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), a friendly staff member from Serengeti Landmark Tours will be there to welcome you. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Arusha, where you can relax after your journey and prepare for your upcoming Ndutu Calving safari.

Day 02 :

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, you will begin your safari journey from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, marking the start of your incredible Ndutu Calving safari experience. Known for its abundant wildlife, Tarangire is especially vibrant during the dry season from June to September, when thousands of animals—such as wildebeest, buffalo, and oryx migrate from the dry Maasai plains to the Tarangire River in search of water.

This is the best time to experience the Ndutu Calving migration, where thousands of wildebeest give birth on the open plains, attracting a high concentration of predators.

Pause at midday for lunch in the bush, surrounded by the stunning Ndutu landscape, then continue exploring until sunset as you follow the action of the Ndutu Calving safari.

Full Game Drive in Ndutu

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Wake up early for breakfast before descending into the crater floor for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to all of the Big Five—rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, and elephant—as well as other wildlife such as zebra, hippo, wildebeest, and hyena. The crater also hosts a variety of birds, including flamingos on Soda Lake, geese, storks, and vultures. Enjoy lunch at the picnic site near Ngoitoktok Swamp, a hippo pool. After lunch, we will drive you back to Arusha and drop you off at your hotel or the airport.
