Touch the Skies Shira Plateau Trek

07:00 AM – Pick-Up from Hotel
Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. After a short briefing and gear check, you’ll begin the scenic drive toward Kilimanjaro National Park.

09:30 AM – Arrive at Londorossi Gate
Reach Londorossi Gate (2,250m) on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, park formalities are completed. You’ll have time to stretch, use restrooms, and prepare for your trek.

10:00 AM – Drive to Shira Plateau (4x4 track)
Take a 40-minute drive on a rugged road to the Shira Ridge, reaching an elevation of around 3,500m. Along the way, enjoy views of the rainforest and keep an eye out for colobus monkeys and birdlife.

11:00 AM – Begin Light Hike on the Plateau
Enjoy a 2-3 hour guided walk across the Shira Plateau. Highlights include:
Expansive views of the Shira Caldera, an ancient volcanic crater
Panoramic glimpses of Kibo Peak (the summit of Kilimanjaro)
Diverse landscapes including moorlands, wildflowers, and volcanic rock formations

01:30 PM – Picnic Lunch
Relax and enjoy a picnic lunch on the plateau, with breathtaking views all around. Your guide will share stories about the mountain, its ecology, and local culture.

02:30 PM – Return to Londorossi Gate
Begin the drive back down to the park gate. Once you arrive, check out and begin your return journey.

05:00 PM – Drop-Off at Your Hotel
Arrive back at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, with wonderful memories and photos of your Kilimanjaro day adventure.
