Calving Season Safari Discovery is a 4-day fly-in safari that begins and ends in Zanzibar, ideal for exploring the Central Serengeti, Southern Serengeti during the calving season, and Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll visit three top parks of the Northern Circuit, spending two nights in Ndutu. Between December and March, thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather on Serengeti’s nutrient-rich southern plains to give birth, creating a breathtaking wildlife spectacle during the Calving Season Safari Discovery.

Day 01 :

Zanzibar Airport to Seronera Airstrip

Your Calving Season Safari Discovery journey begins with a hotel pick-up, followed by a flight from Zanzibar Airport to the Serengeti airstrip. Arriving in the Serengeti in the late morning, you'll embark on a series of game drives, exploring the wildlife-rich landscapes until the afternoon. Afterward, you'll return to the lodge for a satisfying lunch before setting out on another exciting game drive, culminating in the breathtaking spectacle of a Serengeti sunset. This day promises an immersive safari experience in one of Africa's most iconic wildlife destinations during the Calving Season Safari Discovery.

Day 02 :

Central Serengeti to Ndutu

After an early morning breakfast, your Calving Season Safari Discovery continues with a game drive to further acquaint you with the vast expanse of Serengeti National Park, including some lesser-known areas. This offers a great opportunity to witness hippopotamuses and other aquatic animals such as lizards and crocodiles until lunchtime. After lunch, proceed to the Ndutu area, a key location for wildlife activity during the calving season. We hope you will find this part of the Calving Season Safari Discovery especially rewarding. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Day 03 :

Ndutu

On the final day of your safari in Ndutu, your adventure will begin early in the morning with an unforgettable hot air balloon ride, scheduled to start around 5:00 AM. You'll take off just before sunrise, giving you the chance to witness the stunning landscapes of the Ndutu region and its wildlife from the sky as the first light of day breaks across the plains.

After landing, you’ll enjoy a traditional bush breakfast in the wilderness, a perfect way to conclude your balloon experience.
Following breakfast, you'll continue with a game drive in the Ndutu area, allowing for more wildlife viewing and exploration before your departure. Then, go to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 04 :

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Airport

After breakfast in the morning, you will be driven to the Ngorongoro Crater, where you can encounter various animals such as zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, and wildebeest (among others). After having lunch at the picnic, you will go on another game drive before being transferred back to Arusha airport to catch your flight back to Zanzibar in the evening.
