What to know abut this trip
Tanzania is a year-round safari destination, but the best time for wildlife viewing is during the dry season from June to October. This is when animals gather around water sources, making them easier to spot. For the Great Migration in the Serengeti, the best time is between June and July (river crossings) and January to February (calving season).
Tanzania is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) along with many other animals, such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, cheetahs, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. You can also witness the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras in the Serengeti.
High season. For excellent game viewing, the high season (dry season) is best in a Tanzania safari. The dryness visibility is better thus it is easier to spot the wildlife. In the High season, you will witness more tourists.
- Clothing: Lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (long sleeves and pants for sun protection), a warm jacket for mornings and evenings, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat.
- Essentials: Sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, camera, binoculars, reusable water bottle, and a small first-aid kit.
Absolutely! After an exciting safari, many visitors choose to relax on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar, Pemba, or Mafia Island. These islands offer pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and excellent diving/snorkeling opportunities.
Most safaris use 4×4 Land Cruisers or similar vehicles, designed for off-road conditions. These vehicles often come with pop-up roofs to provide better wildlife viewing and photography opportunities
